A Blissful combination of Dance and Sweatlodge Ceremony, by Rimke Pepers and Michaela van der Meer.

The healing and purification of sweating was already known by indigenous cultures which held Sweatlodge Ceremonies. Also Gabrielle Roth, the founder of the 5Rhythms dance mediation, has personally experienced the heling powers of sweat.

"To sweat is to pray, to make an offering of your innermost self. Sweat is holy water, prayer beads, pearls of liquid that release your past. Sweat is an ancient and universal form of self healing, whether done in the gym, the sauna, or the sweat lodge. I do it on the dance floor. The more you dance, the more you sweat. The more you sweat, the more you pray. The more you pray, the closer you come to ecstasy." -Gabrielle Roth

5Rhythms dance is a workout and a mediation for everyone who loves to dance. It is a simple and profound movement practice that heals not only the body and the mind but also the Heart and the Soul. The different rhythms are Flowing, Staccato, Chaos, Lyrical and Stillness and when danced in sequence they form a "Wave". The Wave invites you to experience your own unique way of moving, to listen to your body and to (re)discover your natural flow of expression.

The Sweatlodge ceremony is an ancient old purification ritual within many indigenous cultures. The most well known is maybe the ones from the North American Indians. The Sweatlodge tradition that Michaela shares in Kura Waka is based on the Chippewa-Cree tradition and has been experienced as a warm blanket.
